Rachel Sheehan
K-4 EC Teacher Assistant
Rachel grew up in South Asheville where she was enrolled in resource classes and speech therapy herself. Her passion for teaching can be traced back to when her sons were very young and she, along with a couple of friends, began a cooperative homeschool group with other young mothers. She spent a couple of years teaching their kids about nature and other academics. It helped shape her to understand how kids thrive in and out of the classroom.
Rachel was able to homeschool all of her kids from preschool all the way through their twelfth grade graduations. She began substitute teaching at the end of her last child’s school years. As a substitute teacher she loved the EC and resource department. Those experiences prepared her heart for teaching children and helping them succeed where they are.
Rachel will be a graduate of Blue Ridge Community College, where she is currently enrolled for an Associate in Arts. When she is not busy, she can be found on hikes, reading on her porch, baking sweet delights, or busying herself in the yard.
