
AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
As part of FernLeaf's rich learning environment we offer a variety of after school activities and sports taught by the FernLeaf team or outside organizations with additional expertise. These offerings change throughout the year and may be available after the initial enrollment period by communication with the instructor. The programs showing below are for our most recent session.

Intro to Adventure Racing

Get a head start on this year's FAD race - FernLeaf's Adventure Race! Students will put their navigational skills, map reading, and fitness to the test as they participate in outdoor navigation races! Students will learn how to read a map and compass in concert and use this knowledge to locate checkpoints, all on a timer. Skillbuilding activities and courses will be on FernLeaf's Creek campus.


Canoe Repair Club

Do you enjoy working with your hands? Taking something broken that would otherwise be thrown away and restoring it back to working order? Hanging out with friends? Join the canoe repair club, where we bring donated canoes back to life and build a fleet for FernLeaf! Students will work in pairs to diagnose and repair canoes. Depending on the canoe, students will learn how to work with and repair ABS plastic, fiberglass, wood, and aluminum. Students will work with various tools (plastic welding, sanding, cutting, fiberglassing and more) and materials to address different problems canoes might have. Students may also get the opportunity to work on other school gear repair needs, like bike repair and tuning, tent pole repairs, etc. Program costs will go towards materials for repair.

After a full week in school give your kids the opportunity to really stretch their legs and run with the wild creatures of the mountains. Forest Floor's trained and skilled nature-connection mentors will take your child on an epic adventure into the forest of FernLeaf's new Wilderness Campus.
Through games, stories, songs, and forest exploration your child will learn about: Outdoor Safety & Awareness, Animal Tracking, Edible and Medicinal Wild Plants, Bird Language, Wilderness Survival Skills, Ancient Crafts, Ecology, Community, Self Discovery, Fire-making, and much more…

Baking Club is an opportunity for our K-4 students to learn how to involve themselves in the kitchen in a safe, fun, and hands on way. We will be learning how to make some classic baked goods from scratch, cook some of our favorite foods, and learn some important life skills such as kitchen safety and food preparation. Enjoying our creations together and building friendships is an added bonus!
Rubik's Cube & Chess Club

Want to learn how to play chess? Want to learn how to solve a Rubik's Cube? Come learn how to solve all the variations of Rubik's Cubes, or learn the best strategies in chess! Join us on Tuesdays after school for the combination of Chess AND Rubik's Cube Club! We will have monthly tournaments, medals awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in multiple categories. Tags will be handed out for those who want some extra competition as well! Whether you want to come learn as a beginner, or come to compete in tournaments, we're always having fun.
