Mitchell Bailey
3rd Grade Teacher
Mitchell's passion for teaching can be traced back to his participation in Teacher Cadet during high school. While spending time with a former teacher he realized that helping others learn new skills not only changes the life of the student, but the teacher’s as well. He grew up in Lexington, South Carolina where he cultivated his love for a life filled with exploration and discovery. From getting lost in the woods to swimming and fishing at the local hole, Mitchell realized his passion for spending time with others, and growing together, was not something to be ignored.
Taking this insatiable appetite for learning and collective growth into the classroom has shown him that through learning all things are possible. While sharing his innate curiosity with his students he has recognized the power of exploration in (and out) of the classroom. Life changing classroom experiences range from light bulbs going off while building circuits to countless shared nature observations. Those experiences have prepared him to connect with and cultivate meaningful experiences with future students.
Mitchell is a graduate of Coastal Carolina University, where he majored in elementary education, and Clemson University where he earned his master’s in teaching and learning. When he is not busy with teaching, he can be found on the river, hitting the trails, or relaxing in his backyard with his wife, Misa, and their dog, Changó.
