High School History

Erin's passion for teaching Social Studies can be traced back to her many amazing history teachers in grade school and her family of educators. She grew up in Alexandria, Virginia, where there were always opportunities to learn about American history near the nation’s capital. By the time she got to college, however, she decided to branch out and study as many cultures and civilizations as she could. This led her to study in Morocco for a semester, fostering her passion for World History.

She graduated from UNCW with a degree in French and History. After a year working on a sailboat, she completed a master’s program to teach Secondary Social Studies. After she finished her student teaching stint in Belize, she moved to Denver, Colorado, to begin her teaching career. She has enjoyed teaching a plethora of students throughout her career in Colorado, Montana, and North Carolina. She takes enjoyment in teaching writing and literacy skills based on her students’ interests in Social Studies. She is also extremely passionate about mindfulness and integrates it into all spheres of her life.

When she is not engaged in reading or writing, Erin likes to dance, craft, see live music, and be in nature. After trading the coast in Wilmington, NC, for the mountains, Erin is so grateful to be a part of the FernLeaf community and looks forward to getting to know everyone.
