Donna Horne

5th & 6th Grades Math Teacher

Donna’s passion for teaching relates to a love of and appreciation for children.  Her passion for math, however, came as something of a surprise since her education career began with teaching ELA. She grew up in Savannah and Atlanta, GA, but has moved many times over the years (Falls Church, VA; West Palm Beach, FL; Ellicott City, MD; Simpsonville, SC; Plano, Frisco, and McKinney, TX; and Flat Rock, NC. She does not anticipate leaving North Carolina but plans to build a new house in Zirconia on Lake Summit.  She loves hiking and international travel and combines the two when possible.  Recently, she hiked the Tour du Mont Blanc in France, Italy, and Switzerland.  Next summer, she looks forward to rambling through England’s Lake District.

Donna likes to take on new challenges and is eager to assist with archery at FernLeaf.  She knows that she has much to learn and is grateful for the opportunity to do so.  Donna also relishes a few old challenges, like team trivia; she regularly plays with family and friends at various places in Henderson County.

Donna is a graduate of Emory University, majoring in History and Anthropology.  More recently, she completed a master's degree in teaching at Western Carolina University.  In her limited free time, she enjoys watching Ted Lasso, Only Murders in the Building, and Gardeners World.  She also enjoys seeing local live music and musicals at the Flat Rock Playhouse.
