Chris Stanfield
4th Grade Teacher
Chris spent his childhood traveling and experiencing several different places and cultures throughout the world. The vast majority of his youth was spent exploring the outdoors with his family. One of his fondest memories was summiting Japan’s Mt. Fuji as a second grader with his parents and older brother.
It was his love of the outdoors that attracted Chris to western North Carolina. He began work at a local outdoor gear store and guided backpacking trips in Pisgah National Forest. He found tremendous enjoyment in assisting people and witnessing their abilities and confidence soar. Chris soon began as a volunteer for the BSA, offering support to the youth of Henderson County. This, along with other factors, led Chris to realize his desire to serve as an educator.
Chris earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Carolina University while teaching at an early childhood Montessori School. He and his wife have two children. When not working, Chris can usually be found running the trails deep in Pisgah Forest or otherwise living his best life exploring the local outdoors with his family.
