
AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
As part of FernLeaf's rich learning environment we offer a variety of after school activities and sports taught by the FernLeaf team or outside organizations with additional expertise. These offerings change throughout the year and may be available after the initial enrollment period by communication with the instructor. The programs showing below are for our most recent session.
Lower school is our elementary students in grades K-4th and upper school comprises 5th grades through high school. Click the links below to see the offerings for those specific grade levels.

Crochet Club

Come stitch up some fun! In Crochet Club, students will learn the basics of this cozy craft while turning yarn into something totally awesome. Betsy Dixon of Southside Dance and Hendersonville Ballet continues to bring the joy of dance to FernLeaf! Students will groove to fun music and explore creative movement while learning the basics of ballet, jazz, and modern dance. No fancy shoes or equipment needed—just comfy, stretchy clothes that let kids move freely. Best of all, the session wraps up with a mini-recital in the classroom, where students can shine and show off their new moves!

OSEGA’s recreational gymnastics program is a great start for students, whether they have a dream of becoming a competitive gymnast, or just looking for an activity to improve fitness in a fun way. Our range of beginner to elite levels allow gymnasts to progress at their own pace on all 4 events: Vault, bar, beam & floor. OSEGA’s structured lesson plans are designed to teach core gymnastics skills and provide a fun, safe environment to explore personal strengths and goals.

In OSEGA's youth Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) class, kids will learn techniques to tackle obstacles head on while building balance, agility, speed, coordination, and strength. Wild for Art Club

Aquarium Club

Love animals? Love getting hands-on? In Aquarium Club, 3rd and 4th graders will explore the fascinating world of animal care—setting up aquariums for fish, turtles, lizards, and more! We’ll learn how to keep our animal friends happy and healthy, then head to the Creek Campus river to safely catch minnows and other critters while learning about laws and ethics of collecting from the wild. Come make a splash and dive into animal care with us!


AMOS: Astronomers

Blast off with an AMOS educator and journey through the solar system, stars, and beyond! Each week brings hands-on activities, creative crafts, and out-of-this-world STEAM learning. Get ready to discover the wonders of space and boldly go where no FernLeaf student has gone before!
NOTE: While this activity takes place on FernLeaf's Creek Campus, it is run by educators from the Asheville Museum of Science. NOTE TIMELINE: It runs on AMOS' timeline and does not run the entire duration of FernLeaf's winter afterschool session.
