Sarah Bachler

2nd Grade Teacher

Sarah's passion for 2nd grade can be traced back to watching her mom teach, and eventually direct, a Montessori preschool all of her life. It didn’t take long for Sarah to learn all of her mom’s students’ names and preferred learning styles. Sarah grew up in the suburbs of Chicago where she tutored students with special needs in her free periods, ran a club working with adults with physical and intellectual disabilities at a group home, volunteered at the Boys and Girls club, and spent every Monday at a soup kitchen. She might have occasionally snuck in a concert or two.

Sarah has always loved working with students that learn in different ways and realized a gap in her experience- working with English language learners! Immediately after graduating college, three days later to be exact, Sarah moved to Thailand to teach first grade. Those experiences prepared her to work with the FernLeaf EC team before having a classroom of her own.

Sarah is a graduate of the University of Vermont, where she majored in Special Education and Elementary Education with a focus in literacy. When she is not busy lint-rolling her clothes covered in Golden Retriever fur, she can be found dancing, reading a thriller novel, or staring in wonder at the amazing mountains around us.
