Rose Riggan

2nd Grade Teacher

Rose is a warm and creative second-grade teacher who loves making learning fun and engaging. Her grandmother was born in these very mountains in 1915 and spent her life as an elementary school teacher in North Carolina, inspiring Rose’s passion for education. Rose studied at Warren Wilson College, where she sang in the folk choir, performed in plays, and studied herbalism—growing and crafting remedies for her school community. She later earned her teaching license from the University of North Carolina Asheville and now brings her love for singing, reading, nature, and hands-on learning into her classroom.

Outside, Rose loves teaching her students about plants and mindfulness. She often takes her class on nature walks to explore local flora and identify herbs. Her students also practice mindful breathing and quiet reflection under the trees, helping them connect with the world around them while building focus and calmness. When she’s not in the classroom, Rose enjoys reading, singing, paddle boarding, and long walks. Her goal is to create a classroom where curiosity, kindness, and a sense of wonder thrive!
