Tatum Young

1st Grade Teacher

Tatum's passion for education can be traced back to when she was a part of Future Educators of America club, in the third grade. She grew up in South Florida where during the summer, she would go to her elementary school and help teachers prepare for the upcoming school year. Once she earned her degree, she taught students in multiple states and internationally.

While living in Costa Rica with her family, she utilized her education background to support students in a bilingual school. In the community, she created and facilitated yoga art & nature camps for children. She learned so much about the biodiversity of the jungle and coasts. Tatum volunteered at a local turtle reserve where she assisted sea turtle night tracking, helped build a butterfly sanctuary, and participated in school group tours.

Tatum is a graduate of the University of Central Florida, where she majored in Elementary Education. When she is not busy with her students, she can be found annoying her husband and children with unsolicited facts about trees, plants and fungi as well as telling her dog Pepper she is the best girl. She finds joy when hiking, inquisitively exploring the natural world around her, finding bird feathers, listening to live music, enjoying tasty food, and creating at home remedies with foraged plants.
