Michael Mascolo

5th & 6th Grade Social Studies Teacher

Michael's passion for teaching 5th and 6th grade social studies can be traced back to his fascination with maps. He grew up in Connecticut and Georgia where he attended Georgia Southern University (GSU) where he studied maps and received his Bachelor of Arts in International Studies with a minor in Japanese. For the last year of his undergraduate degree he lived in Japan where he attended university.

After graduating from GSU he returned to Japan to teach at an English school. After finding his passion teaching children abroad, he later returned to GSU and received his Master of Arts in Teaching. Those experiences prepared him to receive recognition as WTOC’s Top Teacher, Teacher of the Year voted by his peers, and has won various grants for his classroom.

When he is not busy with teaching, he can be found going to the movies, traveling, and playing video games.
